The Home Builders Association of Berks County Announces the Creation of a Professional Women in Building Council. During a meeting held at the end of March 2016, the Board of Directors of Home Builders Association of Berks County announced the creation of a Professional Women in Building Council. It is intended that women in all areas of the building industry including owners, builders, remodelers, architects, engineers, banking, and real estate will work together for the common goals of promoting the construction industry and the role of women in the industry.

The Berks County Professional Women in Building  will be a chapter of a similar organization designed by the National Home Builders Association. The PWB will allow its members to connect with other professional women on a local, state and national level. Research has shown that approximately 47% of privately owned businesses in the United States have women as the majority owner or an equal partner. The creation of a PWB council allows us to bring to Berks County an organization that has been extremely successful on the national level. We are excited to see what this council will do said 2016 Home Builders Association President James E. Gavin.

Cathy Sloan of Aluminum Associates in Temple, Berks County, and First Vice President of the Berks County Home Builders Association spearheaded this initiative. She stated, I have been involved in the building industry for over 20 years and have been participating in the PWB on the state and national level for the last several years. It has been a real inspiration learning how much of an impact woman have in the building industry. I am extremely excited to be able to bring this opportunity to our local association and bring all woman involved in the building industry together to work as a team.

The Home Builders Association of Berks County currently ranks as one of the top ten building associations in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Its mission is to serve as a leading advocate for the building industry by promoting trust and value in the community. All awards are the result of peer review by competent professionals in the building industry.
